Chairmaine Holmes

Accredited Clinical Mental Health Social Worker and Family Therapist

BSW. AMHSW MACSW

Charmaine has 30 years experience as a Clinical Social Worker with more than 10 years in private practice.

She brings a wide range of skills to her work in helping people in complex life crises and sees everyone from children to the elderly, couples and families and ATSI clients.

She believes we all need to feel respected and heard and have someone help us be clear about our thinking. She views counselling as a "therapeutic conversation" rather than a set of techniques and likes to help people find ways of coping with present difficulties and find new hopeful paths for the future.

Charmaine's focus of work includes depression, anxiety and stress, family therapy incorporating child work through parent-child sessions, step families, re-partnering, parenting regarding emotional and behaviour problems in children, family violence, peri-natal counselling, couple counselling, sexual issues, personality disorders and grief and bereavement.

She uses an eclectic approach and draws upon many fields of wisdom and expertise in helping people improve their health and wellbeing. She works with the connection between our physical health and our emotions, thoughts, spirituality and the natural world around us. She has an interest in assisting people to find natural remedies for anxiety and depression where appropriate.

Charmaine works with a wide range of therapeutic modalities including Brief Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotion Focussed Therapy, Narrative Therapy and CBT.
